Eric Voulgaris, Board Chair - Eric graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1986 with a BA in political science. He and his wife, Jami have owned and operated Rooms & Gardens, a custom furniture and interior design company, for over 20 years. Eric has served as a board member for the Santa Barbara Downtown Organization and the Page Youth Center. He is also currently an elected representative to the San Marcos High School SITE council, which oversees strategic academic planning and resource allocation. Eric and Jami have a sophomore, Scott, at San Marcos, and a younger son Kyle.
Barbara McWhirter, Secretary - Barbara, a native of Northern California, graduated from University of Arizona in 1986. After graduation she moved to San Diego where she started her career in the non-profit world. Working in development/planned giving and project management for PBS/NPR, and the Natural History Museum. She then translated her marathon and triathlon experiences into a successful career in endurance sports marketing with the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society where she was the National VP of their endurance sports fundraising group, Team In Training. Recently, she was President of the Hope School District Education Foundation and chaired a number of their successful fund raising events and initiatives. Barbara has served on several local non-profit boards and is an active member in NCL (National Charity League). Barbara has two daughters, Lily, 16, currently a Junior at SMHS and Emma, 12, a 7th grader at La Colina.
Don Oas, Treasurer, As a technology executive, entrepreneur and marketing expert, Don has lead strategic, marketing and senior teams in Fortune 50 multinationals, global software companies and several VC backed, marketing and technology start-ups. (Verizon, Software.com, Openwave, Blue Casa, Aviesta). Don holds an MBA from University of Colorado, and degree in Economics from Gustavus Adolphus College. Don is also actively involved with non-profit and youth sports and served as Treasurer of Marymount Board of Trustees.
Krista Benz - Krista Benz graduated from University of Florida with a bachelor of arts in English and worked in marketing and sales following school. She moved with her husband Pat to SB from Sarasota, Fl 6 years ago. They have four kids, two grown young women working in advertising in LA, their younger daughter Savannah is an AAPLE graduate & a freshmen at USC, and their son Patrick is a freshman in AAPLE. Krista has been involved in various ways at SMHS, especially with the AAPLE academy. Krista's always been an active force in her kids schools, through pta boards, committees and functions, as well as participating in numerous non-profit organizations.
Bronwen Brindley - Bronwen Brindley moved to Santa Barbara to attend UCSB where she earned her Bachelors and Masters degrees in Cell Biology. She then completed her medical degree at UCLA School of Medicine specializing in Internal Medicine. She has served as a Board member for the Foundation for Medical Care of Santa Barbara County for 20 years. She has been an active volunteer at Laguna Blanca School, including serving on the Board of the Parent’s Auxiliary and helping on the Gala and JogA Thon committees. Bronwen and her husband, John, have a junior daughter at SMHS where she serves on the Site Council and on various AAPLE parent committees.
Tom Condon - Tom and his wife Christy have raised their three children in Santa Barbara since 2003, one of whom is currently a Royal. Tom works in the finance industry and also serves on the national board of the Lymphoma Research Foundation. Tom received his BA from Brown University, and his MBA from Vanderbilt University.
Maria Larios-Horton - María received her Bachelor’s Degree from CSU Northridge in Child Development and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Chapman University. María also holds a Multiple Subject Bilingual, Cross-Cultural, Language and Academic Development Teaching Credential and an Administrative Services Credential. María was Recently appointed as the Director of Multilingual and Migrant Education Programs for the Santa Maria Joint Union High School District and was the previous Director of English Support Services for the Santa Barbara County Education Office where she worked in collaboration with San Marcos High School to strengthen services for English Learner Students. Maria and her husband, Greg Horton are the proud parent of Izzy Huerta, a 10th grader.
Lisa Lee - Lisa graduated from UCSB with a BA in Business Economic Emphasis in Accounting. Born in Taipei Taiwan, Lisa moved to Santa Barbara at the age of 13, currently serve as the Board Member of Taiwanese American Association. She and her husband Peter has/had owned and operate several restaurants in Santa Barbara, Montecito and Carpenteria. Lisa has 2 juniors and 1 freshman at San Marcos High School, she has been very active in school and charity fundraising.

Christi Phreaner - Christi Graduated from UCSB with a BA in Cellular Biology and from UCI with a PhD in Molecular Biology. She has been involved in fundraising for various organizations in the Santa Barbara area for 15 years. Christy is involved in SM athletic boosters in a variety of capacities raising funds for field of champions and athletic programs on campus.
Michèle Pouget-Drum - Michèle received a MS in Developmental Psychology from Université de Paris, France, a MS in Counseling Psychology from UB in Connecticut and subsequently attended The Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Michèle served on several boards including: The International Institute, The Massachusetts Coalition of Battered Women, and The City of Boston’s Homeless Planning Committee, during her tenure as Director of Operations for New England’s largest organization for battered women and children. Since, moving to Santa Barbara with her husband and daughter, she has been involved in fundraising in various local organizations.
